What to expect at the Birth Wellness Festival

As August approaches, I want to invite you to join us for our fifth year running of the Birth Wellness Festival, here in beautiful Murwillumbah, Northern NSW.

The Birth Wellness Festival is a grassroots gathering held on the weekend of August 8-9, and everyone is welcome!

We are bringing together birth professionals, including midwives, doulas, and educators, with pregnant women, families, and the community. It’s an opportunity to gather, connect, and truly celebrate birth.

The vision of the festival has always been to raise consciousness around birth and create a whole new paradigm. We are not political—we recognise that the maternity system is broken and needs a lot of change, but that is not our job. Instead, our focus is on empowerment.

If you are ready to be part of a movement that believes birth can be joyful, empowering, and even fun — this is your place. The Birth Wellness Festival exists to rewrite the story. Birth is not something to fear, it is something to celebrate, and we are here to show you why.

One of the things our community loves most about the festival is what happens between the sessions. Yes, we have inspiring workshops and presentations, but some of the most meaningful moments happen over a cup of chai, with someone you just met, or in a spontaneous conversation that changes the way you see everything. That is the magic of coming together.

We believe that if we give women choice and inform them of what their options are, they will become empowered and self-autonomous. Instead of giving away their power, they can believe in their ability to birth their babies, feel confident, and even have fun!

When we plan the Birth Wellness Festival, every decision is made with the intention to nurture, inform, and honour everyone who attends. Because we receive no funding, this is a true grassroots effort fuelled by passion. It is a labour of love for our community.

Every year, attendees tell us that the Birth Wellness Festival is a deeply moving experience, and that is because it is more than just an event. It is designed to fill your cup, expand your knowledge, and surround you with a supportive village.
