Together we can change the conversation about birth
For generations, women have been told that birth is something to fear.
Many have grown up hearing stories of pain, danger and emergencies, while rarely hearing stories of strength, wisdom, resilience and joy.
The Birth Wellness Festival is not about changing birth itself. Women have been giving birth for millennia.
What we are committed to changing is the conversation around birth.
Our commitment is to reassure women that they are not broken. That their bodies are not defective. That they possess an innate capacity for pregnancy, labour, birth and motherhood.
For the past five years, the Birth Wellness Festival has provided a safe space for women and families to reconnect with that wisdom.
We have created a unique event where people can gather to hear from the visionaries, educators and thought leaders of an emerging birth paradigm. Together, we explore the beliefs and conditioning that shape our experiences of birth and consider new possibilities - not only for birth itself, but for how we see ourselves.
For most women in Australia, hospital birth is the only option they consider. It is the norm, what we hear about, and what we assume birth is supposed to look like. Yet much of what we believe about pregnancy and birth has been shaped by the stories we hear, the systems we move through, and the expectations placed upon us.
Every model of maternity care has its own philosophy, priorities and way of understanding birth. We believe women deserve the opportunity to understand those influences, ask questions, explore their options, and make informed decisions that feel right for them and their families.
The Birth Wellness Festival is not about telling women where they should give birth. It is not about home birth versus hospital birth. It is about opening up the conversation. It is about creating a space where women and families can hear different perspectives, explore different possibilities, and discover that they may have more choices than they realised.
The Birth Wellness Festival is about helping women remember who they are. The Festival offers women and families the opportunity to hear different perspectives, explore different possibilities, and discover that they may have more choices than they realised.
What the Birth Wellness Festival is NOT:
It is NOT a political movement, nor is it about fighting the system. Many dedicated individuals and organisations are already working to improve maternity services, influence policy, and create practical change within healthcare.
Rather than fighting against the existing system, we aim to create a space where women and families can reconnect with their own wisdom, hear new perspectives, and discover a more hopeful vision of birth.
Our role is different.
We believe that lasting change begins with awareness. It begins with the stories we tell, the beliefs we hold, and the conversations we have about birth.
The Birth Wellness Festival has always been about raising consciousness, inspiring conversation, and nurturing a culture in which women feel informed, supported and confident in their capacity to make choices that are right for them.
This is no ordinary festival.
The way we birth matters.
The way we think matters.
What we believe is possible matters.
When people come together with a shared intention to learn, question, grow and raise consciousness, something powerful happens. A community is created. Stories are shared. Possibilities emerge.
What can you expect at the Birth Wellness Festival?
We will bring together information, support and diverse perspectives so families can make informed choices that are right for them.
We create opportunities for women to reconnect with their inner wisdom, trust their bodies, trust their babies, and gain a deeper understanding of the remarkable physiological process of birth. And when that happens, it changes more than birth.
It changes how women experience themselves.
It changes families. And that changes not only how women experience birth, but how they experience themselves.
We invite you to join us on the weekend of August 8 and 9 for a weekend of connection, inspiration, learning and community.
Early bird tickets are available until June 30.
