As the Seasons Change: What Is Unfolding in April

As we move into autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, the shift is felt not only in the air but in the body.

There is a quiet turning inward.

A softening.

A natural drawing back from the outward pace of the year.

Autumn does not rush. It does not force.

It invites release.

In the same way the trees begin to let go, we too may begin to notice what no longer wants to be held, what feels ready to shift, what is asking for space.

There is a wisdom in this season, one that reminds us that letting go is not loss, but part of a deeper reorganisation.

What has been happening

These past couple of months have been busy at Heart & Soul of Wellness, particularly with preparations for Birth Stories on Stage.

Birth Stories on Stage is a unique and meaningful event that was created last year as a fundraiser for the Birth Wellness Festival. It is a curated evening where women come together to share their birth stories on stage, stories that have been thoughtfully prepared, rehearsed, and shaped.

Last year’s event was a great success, and we are proud to be offering it again.

This year, Birth Stories on Stage will take place on Wednesday,15th April at 5pm. Eleven women will be stepping forward to share their stories. There has been a lot of activity in the centre in the lead-up, with rehearsals and preparations taking place behind the scenes.

A space that continues to evolve

Heart & Soul of Wellness is not separate from these cycles.

In recent months, a beautiful group of mothers have given birth, marking the completion of one cycle. And as this unfolds, we begin to welcome a new wave of mothers arriving into the space, each stepping into their own threshold.

Alongside this natural movement, there has also been a process of letting go within the centre.

As part of this season, we have released our previous website and stepped into a renewed version—one that feels more aligned with who we are now and how we are growing.

This shift has felt like a form of pruning—letting go of what no longer fits, so that something stronger and more coherent can take root.

The updated website is now easier to navigate, allowing you to find practitioners, offerings, and events more simply.

We welcome you to explore it and let us know how it feels.

We also welcome new practitioners into the space, each bringing their own skills, presence, and way of working, contributing to this new energy that is forming.

We warmly welcome Christina Cruz, a remedial massage therapist with over 20 years of experience, specialising in deep tissue and myofascial release.

Her work is both skilled and intuitive, supporting clients to reduce pain while fostering long-term overall wellbeing. She has a natural ability to work with the body in a way that allows for deeper release, often unlocking what has been held over time.

A collective creation

In preparation for the Birth Wellness Festival, we are creating a collaborative textile artwork called The Cloak of Birth Sovereignty.

This piece is a quilted creation, made up of many individual contributions. Each person is invited to offer something of their own: a message, an image, or a piece of embroidery that reflects what birth means to them.

These pieces will come together to form a larger collective artwork that will be displayed at the festival.

There is something about this piece that feels deeply moving.

It is a way of honouring birth not just as an event, but as something lived, felt, and remembered in many different ways. It holds a sense of collectivity, of shared vision, of many voices coming together to express what birth is, what it has been, and what it is becoming.

It is also a way of communicating through texture, through symbol, through thread what we are needing, what we are feeling, and what we are living in relation to birth.

In that sense, it becomes a living piece. A reflection of our community.

We provide all the materials you simply need to get in touch with us, and we will guide you through how to be part of it.

We would love to have you involved and to see the many different expressions that want to be part of this piece.

Closing

As the season shifts, so too does the rhythm of the centre.

We look forward to welcoming you into the space in the coming weeks, whether for a session, a class, or one of our upcoming events.

With warmth and appreciation,

Sali and the Heart & Soul of Wellness team
